artificial intelligence is not your friend
8

Neighbor, AI is not your friend, and it’s not as helpful as you think it is. This podcast offers up reasons— political, ecological, ethical, and humanitarian— to recognize AI as a massive con propped up by techno-fascists.

Someone will want to chime in and talk about “advancement,” “world competition,” and the need for regulation. Unless and until we are talking about legislating AI out of existence, then I don’t think it’s gone far enough.

Y’all these people are not building AI to help you or better your lives. They have designed it to steal your job, rob your intellectual property, surveil you, deny you healthcare, abduct your immigrant neighbors, and bomb your Palestinian neighbors with drones.

AI is not “the future”— it’s a coup— and you’re helping them with every single search query, every autogenerated blog, and every sing sterile piece of art.

It’s not just that these people have conned you into training AI, for free, which will replace you, displace you, and erase you— it’s that techno-fascists have conned you into thinking that you are no match for AI when, in fact, AI is no match for you.

The saddest bit is that you’re actually way smarter than AI. You’ve just been connect to accept someone else’s frame about what intelligence actually is, and I’ll tell you: your intellect isn’t about a collection of facts. What makes us smart isn’t knowledge but our curiosity, and what makes us successful isn’t our perfection but our weird, messy humanity.

Whatever you are trying to do with AI for personal use, understand that you will outperform it on your own. Why? Because our best stuff, our most persuasive stuff, comes from our flaws, our weirdness, our raw authenticity.

Anyhow, listen to the pod, and consider talking to people in your life and asking them if they’ve really thought through what they’re doing, because I’d wager a guess that no one is reading the fine print, nor the writing on the wall.

There’s another way, and it’s not this. You have to stop letting rich people con you into thinking their geniuses when they’re petulant children play god.
